Let me answer some frequently asked questions and help ease some unknowns :
Will my partner feel left out of the
experience with a doula at the birth?
Short answer- NO, your partner knows YOU, where a doula knows birth.
Long- I stive to support the family, along side the mother. I could never replace your partner, we will work together as team to keep you comforted during your big day.
What if i get a C-Section?
Depending on circumstance and hospital policy, I will be there with you. Please see my Refund Policies for more info.
Where do you attend births?
I take clients that are birthing in up to an hour distance from me to ensure I’ll be there for you when you need me. Other than that, I have no preference; Home birth, Hospital, or Birthing Center.
What if I get an epidural?
I am there to support you, no matter what you choose. If a medicated birth means you’re able to achieve the experience you feel good about, then great!
What is the Retainer Fee?
This is a part of payment received first and is typically about 1/3 of total cost of service. The retainer fee is there to compensate your doula for prenatal appointments and cover the cost of being On-Call.
What is your philosophy on Birth?
I believe in birth. Afterall we are mammals, a mama bear doesn’t need anything else to birth her babies. I understand we live in a world with advanced medicine, my belief is that any intervention of birth should be at the mothers request (assuming there’s no emergencies), not just what’s normal or policy. I believe in true informed consent and individualized care.
How many births do you take a month?
Currently, I take two births a month.
Say my home birth transfers to a hospital birth?
Whether the transfer is by choice or need, I will remain there for you. I will follow you to the new location in my vehicle.
What if you miss my birth?
Firstly, I REALLY don’t want to miss your birth! But if something unexpected happens, then you will have the prearranged ‘Back Up Doula” there in my place. For more instances, please see my Refund Policies.
When is payment due?
The retainer fee is due when you reach week 25 of pregnancy (30 Weeks if booked passed 25 weeks). The remainder of payment is due at week 37.
